I am a Naturopathic Physician and owner of Rose Cabinet Medicine who graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
I grew up in a family who valued food as medicine. Cooking and eating together was integral to family life. Our large garden inspired our menus. There were goats for milk, cheese, hand cranked ice cream, and fermented yogurt. My father even made tofu from scratch. I went on to a professional life in food. My formative years as a chef were spent at Hedgebrook, a women’s writing retreat, where I cooked for 6 resident writers from a bountiful organic garden and orchard. There I learned to cook with the seasons, and more importantly how to provide deep nourishment on many levels for our guests.
Out of my lifelong interest in nutrition and nurturing folks developed an abiding passion for natural medicine. While training for my degree in Naturopathic medicine I rediscovered my love for the therapeutic power of water. The simple act of bathing can be a transformative healing experience.
The roots of Naturopathic medicine emerge from the European water cure traditions. Central to Rose Cabinet Medicine are the sauna and cold plunge, where patients can rediscover what wellness feels like.
Additionally, I’m interested in working with and treating endocrine disorders, brain and digestive health, nutrition, weight loss, and detoxification.
My 25 years of experience as a whole foods chef help my patients discover health no further away than their kitchen cabinet. Food is our first medicine! Helping patients to incorporate nutrient dense, real foods into their meal planning is my passion and joy. Because of my expertise on the Primal/Paleo lifestyle, I’m listed as a provider through Primaldocs.com.
Other therapies that I use with patients are: Homeopathy, Shiatsu Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Biotherapeutic Drainage, Gemmotherapy, and LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System).
